Amy was born and raised in the suburbs of Minneapolis. Her father was a reporter and her mother was an elementary school teacher who kept working up until the age of seventy. When Amy moved into politics she vowed to retain the Minnesota values she learned while growing up, and she has kept her promise throughout her tenure in the U.S. Senate. Amy is a strong advocate for campaign finance reform– she has cosponsored a constitutional amendment to end Citizens United, and has cosponsored legislation to boost transparency in political spending. She recognizes that America needs real campaign finance reform so that every citizen has an equal voice in our elections.
