Zephyr Teachout

New York

Candidate for New York's 19th Congressional District

"I have been fighting against Citizens United before it existed, and was cited in Justice Stevens’ dissent. I have testified in front of Pelosi on the importance of an earlier version of the Disclose Act, worked as an advocate to let people know about Sarbanes’ critically important work. I was on the Every Voice board since 2008, led the Mayday board for 6 months, and was the first National Director of the Sunlight Foundation." - Zephyr Teachout

About Ms. Teachout:

Zephyr Teachout grew up in a rural county a few hours from her current home in Dutchess County, raised by parents who taught her to be independent. She is a reform-minded leader who has never been afraid of standing up to special interests and the political establishment, even members of her own party.

The New York Times calls her “a national expert on political corruption and an advocate of…transparency and political reform” on behalf of people whose voices have been drowned out by big corporations and powerful insiders.

Zephyr is currently a law professor and lives in Dutchess County.
