Concerned Women for America

Concerned Women for America asserts that “there’s a cultural battle raging across this country” and seeks to win that battle by “bring[ing] Biblical principles into all levels of public policy.”[1] The organization is decades old.[2] However, its activity has been jump-started in recent years by an infusion of cash from Koch-funded groups.

In 2013, Politico reported that the Koch-funded Freedom Partners group had given CWA $8.2 million.[3] The Center for Responsive Politics later reported that two other Koch-funded groups, The Center to Protect Patient Rights and TC4 Trust, had given CWA an additional $2.8 million.[4]

CWA officials sometimes make highly controversial comments. For instance, in mid-2015, CWA President Penny Nance told National Review that “it’s not enough for abortion to be illegal. We should make it unthinkable.”[5]
