Great America PAC

Great America PAC is a Super PAC supporting Donald Trump’s candidacy. So far, the group has been primarily funded by Bill Doddridge, the CEO of Jewelry Exchange.[1] The group has hired several prominent Republican operatives including Jesse Benton, Ed Rollins, and Dan Backer.[2] On May 5, Benton was convicted due to campaign finance violations during a previous job.[3]

Great America PAC has set a funding goal of $15 million and has already spent over $1 million on ads.[4] Rollins has said that “Usually, a super PAC is the frosting on the cake. My sense is we’re going to be part of the cake.” He also said that ‘the PAC would particularly try to narrow Trump’s gap with female voters by targeting their security concerns and portraying Trump as stronger than Clinton in fighting terrorism.’[5] The group’s fundraiser said, despite Trump’s public lack of commitment, that the group ‘feels it has the green light’ to proceed on Trump’s behalf.[6]

The group has secured prominent surrogates including Dr. Ben Carson and former Texas Gov. Rick Perry to fundraise on its behalf, lending some weight to its claim to be the primary pro-Trump Super PAC.[7][8] Billionaire T. Boone Pickens has announced that he will host a fundraiser for the Super PAC in June.[9]
