Andy Kim, the former White House national security adviser taking on Rep. Tom MacArthur in New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District, picked up the endorsement of a second progressive fundraising group.

The Progressive Change Campaign Committee made Kim one of its first three endorsed Democratic congressional candidates for 2018. The PCCC, which supports expanding Social Security and making it possible for students to graduate from college without massive amounts of debt, has a network of donors that contribute to its endorsed candidates.

“We’re endorsing Andy Kim because he is helping to reshape the debate and push it in a bolder and more progressive direction,” PCCC co-founder Stephanie Taylor said.  “Andy has correctly called climate change a ‘national security crisis,’ showing he is willing to use his unique voice on national security to speak truth to power.”

Kim also has picked the support of End Citizens United, which is seeking to overturn the U.S. Supreme Court decision that relaxed limits on corporate and union campaign spending and paved the way for the creation of super political action committees and the rise of nonprofit groups that keep their donors hidden.

That group also relies on a network of donors to support favored candidates.

The money will be needed to cut into MacArthur’s fundraising advantage.
