Supreme Court’s South Carolina Ruling Highlights Need for Congressional Action to Protect Voting Rights

May 23, 2024

End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s dangerous decision in Alexander v. South Carolina State Conference of the NAACP which undermines voting rights and Constitutional protections:

“The Supreme Court’s extreme far-right majority isn’t even trying to hide their partisanship anymore, with today’s decision being written by the justice who flew flags supporting a violent attempt to overturn the election. Furthermore, this ruling gives politicians the green light to racially gerrymander districts as they please. This assault on Black and minority voters will only worsen unless Congress takes action and passes the Freedom to Vote Act and the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.”
