End Citizens United: Clinton, Democrats Committed to Campaign Finance Reform

Sep 08, 2015

WASHINGTON – Today, End Citizens United PAC praised Hillary Rodham Clinton’s plan to reform America’s campaign finance system to remove the “dark money” in politics – keeping the issue at the forefront of the debate in 2016.  Set to unveil her proposals today, Secretary Clinton’s plan overturns Citizens United, requires more robust disclosure for donations, and implements a public matching system for small donations.

“Corporations and billionaires are spending record sums of money trying to influence elections,” said Richard Carbo, Communications Director for End Citizens United.  “We have to shift the balance of power back to the American people who are tired of having their voices drowned out.  Hillary Clinton’s plan isn’t just what the country wants; it’s what we need.  Support for campaign finance reform spans the political spectrum, but Democratic candidates like Secretary Clinton are the only ones willing to take action.  End Citizens United will keep the pressure on our political leaders to reduce the influence of money in politics, and we appreciate Secretary Clinton’s commitment on this issue.”

End Citizens United was established in March 2015 to counter the disastrous effects of Citizens United and reform our campaign finance system. To date, more than 325,000 individuals have signed their name to a petition calling for a constitutional amendment to overturn Citizens United

End Citizens United is engaging voters across the country to keep campaign finance reform a key issue.  In August, more than 60,000 grassroots supporters signed our online petition urging Fox News to discuss Citizens United during the first presidential debate.
