End Citizens United (ECU) today announced that it has endorsed four candidates for U.S. House from Illinois, including Congressman Brad Schneider (IL-10), as well as Sean Casten (IL-06), Betsy Londrigan (IL-13), and Lauren Underwood (IL-14).
“Too many politicians in Washington are beholden to the Big Money special interests. They’re corrupting the system and leaving everyday Illinoisans behind,” said ECU President Tiffany Muller. “These candidates are committed to fighting for meaningful reform so that Illinois families, not special interests, are the priorities in Congress. We’re proud to endorse their campaigns and look forward to helping them win in November.”
“I am honored to have the endorsement of End Citizens United in the 2018 election. We must return the disastrous Citizens United decision to the dustbin of history, and rein in the unlimited and untraceable dark money that it unlocked. I look forward to continuing to fight alongside ECU to promote transparency and accountability in our electoral system,” said Congressman Brad Schneider.
“It’s hard to see progress on so many issues we all care about without getting money – especially dark money – out of our elections once and for all. That’s why the work of End Citizens United and other grassroots groups who are fighting for transparency, equality, and democracy in our political process is so important,” said Sean Casten, candidate for IL-06.
In Illinois, ECU has also endorsed Brendan Kelly (IL-12) as well as Representatives Jan Schakowsky (IL-09), Cheri Bustos (IL-17), and Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-08). The endorsement will help these candidates compete with high-spending special interest groups by connecting them with its more than 148,000 grassroots members in Illinois, as well as its national network of 400,000 small-dollar donors.
ECU is an entirely grassroots-funded organization dedicated to electing members of Congress who will fight to get Big Money out of politics so Congress focuses on all of us and not only its biggest special interest donors.
