End Citizens United Launches First Web Video

Nov 17, 2015

WASHINGTON – Today, End Citizens United (ECU) PAC launched its first web video.  This video is the first installment in an aggressive public awareness campaign to make campaign finance reform a centerpiece of the 2016 election. The campaign engaged ECU’s grassroots supporters across the country – in Chicago, Seattle, Phoenix, Atlanta, and Kansas City – to discuss the impact of money in politics.

“The influence of money in politics has gotten out of control,” said Richard Carbo, Communications Director for ECU.  “There is broad support among Republicans and Democrats for overhauling our nation’s campaign finance system and overturning Citizens United, but too many Americans feel their voices are being drowned out.  We are launching a public awareness campaign to elevate the voices of ordinary Americans who are committed to holding politicians accountable, and we couldn’t be prouder of the outpouring of support from our grassroots supporters.”

In each of these locations, ECU reached out to our supporters to discuss our key issue – campaign finance reform.  Unlike most public awareness campaigns, the footage of our supporters is not scripted.  These are ordinary citizens who feel that the system is rigged against them and that it gives billionaires and corporations an unfair advantage.

End Citizens United was founded in March 2015 with the goal of reforming our nation’s campaign finance system.  Since then, the organization has raised more than $5 million from more than 121,000 grassroots donors giving more than 360,000 donations.  The average contribution size is less than $14.00.

Across the country, ECU will play a critical role in electing Democratic candidates in the House and Senate who will fight to reform our campaign finance system and overturn Citizens United.  Already, ECU has made key endorsements in some of the nation’s most competitive elections.  A complete list of endorsements is available here.
