Cindy Axne Has Fought for Iowans Since Day One in Congress

Sep 15, 2020

Republicans’ latest ad baselessly attacking Congresswoman Cindy Axne is a lie, which has already been debunked by fact checkers. Axne is part of a new generation of leaders who went to Congress in 2018 to change the way business as usual was done in Washington. By rejecting corporate PAC money, she pledged to work for the people and get results for Iowa families. Since her first day in Congress, she’s kept her promise to do just that.

Axne led the charge on The For the People Act, a historic bill that takes on corruption in both parties and strengthens ethics laws, fought to protect health coverage for Iowans with pre-existing conditions, and stood up to drug companies to lower drug prices because she works for the people.

“Republicans are lying about Cindy Axne because she is fighting to break up the corrupt status quo,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Cindy’s leadership played a key role in the passage of the For the People Act, the most sweeping anti-corruption bill in a generation that strengthens ethics laws and takes on corruption in both parties. She stood up to Big Pharma to lower the cost of prescription drugs and took on the insurance industry to provide quality healthcare for Iowans. Ex-Congressman David Young voted to eliminate protections for Iowans with pre-existing conditions and has pocketed over a million dollars from corporate PACs. Despite the GOP’s desperation, the facts remain the same: since the moment she got elected, Cindy Axne has fought for Iowa families.”
