Raul grew up in California’s Coachella Valley. The child of farmworkers, Raul went on to graduate with his MD from Harvard, along with a master’s in public policy and a master’s in public health. He was the first Latino to receive three graduate degrees from Harvard. Raul decided to put his impressive education to work back in the Coachella Valley, working to improve healthcare in the area, and also volunteered in the international community, flying to Haiti after their 2010 earthquake. He became a Representative in 2012 to further serve Southern California.
