(Auburn Citizen) A progressive group claims that U.S. Rep. Brandon Williams is keeping a donation from embattled Congressman George Santos, but Williams says he gave the money to a central New York organization.
End Citizens United has urged Republican members of Congress, including Williams, to donate funds they received from Santos, who is facing federal charges and has admitted to lying on his resume.
Tiffany Muller, president of End Citizens United, said in a statement that “anyone who holds onto (Santos’s) tainted money is endorsing his fraud.”
The group also took its message to social media. In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, End Citizens United said Williams “has taken in corrupt contributions from George Santos.” But they also acknowledged that the central New York Republican has supported expelling Santos from the House.
