Navigator Poll: Voters Reject GOP Big Lie Bill; Support Freedom to Vote Act

Navigator Research released a new poll looking at voters’ opinion of elections and voting rights proposals introduced by Democrats and Republicans. The poll found that Americans overwhelmingly favor Democrats’ Freedom to Vote Act over the Republicans’ ACE Act—and it’s not even close.

Key findings:

  • The Freedom to Vote Act is more popular than the ACE Act by 42 points.

    • Among Independents, the Freedom to Vote Act is 44 points more popular than the ACE Act. After learning more about the bill, support for the ACE Act drops by an additional 12 points.

  • Democratic proposals aimed at making it easier to vote are highly supported:

    • 84% support establishing national standards to protect the freedom to vote

    • 63% support ending partisan gerrymandering.

    • 66% support automatic voter registration.

  • Republican proposals aimed at making it harder to vote are deeply unpopular:

    • 55% oppose Republican proposals to ban mail-in voting

    • 52% oppose banning same-day voter registration.

    • 51% oppose reducing the number of public drop boxes.

  • Voters are most concerned that Republican policies will make it harder to vote and easier for dark money to influence our political system:

    • 61% of voters find it concerning that Republicans’ Big Lie bill will “increase undisclosed ‘dark money’ in politics where voters cannot publicly see donor information, which will lead to more corporate influence in elections.”60% of voters were concerned that Republicans’ bill “will make it harder for eligible Americans to vote legally by mail.”
