Nicole Malliotakis Is Lying Because She Is a Fraud

Sep 09, 2020

Malliotakis is a lobbyist who ran a corporate PAC supporting Bill de Blasio; Max Rose is rejecting corporate PAC and federal lobbyist money

Nicole Malliotakis is lying in a recent ad to cover up for being a fraud. Let’s set the record straight:

Malliotakis has taken almost $165,000 in corporate and corporate PAC money and is a sellout to the special interests. Always the hypocrite, despite attacking the idea of funding campaigns with tax dollars, she is the only candidate in this race who has used taxpayer money for her own campaign. Meanwhile, Congressman Max Rose rejects corporate PAC and federal lobbyist money. He wrote an amendment to ensure taxpayer money wouldn’t be used for federal campaigns and led the charge to pass the For the People Act, the biggest reform bill in generations that would tackle corruption in both parties.

“Nicole Malliotakis is lying to voters because she can’t defend her record as a corporate shill,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Malliotakis is a former Con Ed lobbyist who ran a corporate PAC that backed New York City’s Mayor de Blasio and is now being bankrolled by corporate special interests in her run for Congress. Meanwhile, Congressman Rose meant it when he told corporate PACs and federal lobbyists to ‘keep their damn money’ and led efforts to pass the most sweeping anti-corruption bill since Watergate. Nicole Malliotakis can’t cover up being a fraud no matter how many lies she tells.”

ECU endorsed Rose’s re-election campaign in March 2019 as part of the group’s first round of House incumbent endorsements. Rose, who ran on a platform of reform in 2018, refuses corporate PAC and federal lobbyist money and showed leadership in the passage of the For the People Act (H.R.1). The reform group has four million members nationwide, including 5,000 in NY-11, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
