🎶Please Don’t Ban My Mail-In Voting Mr. Postman🎶

Oct 18, 2022

With just weeks to go until Election Day, we’re highlighting some of the biggest Republican scandals from this election cycle.

Mark Finchem: Vote by mail for me, but not for thee!

Arizona secretary of state candidate Mark Finchem has plenty to say about mail-in voting: Finchem recently revealed that he personally is opposed to voting by mail and wants to get rid of the current vote-by-mail system in place for millions of Arizonans.

One thing Finchem didn’t mention, is that he personally uses mail-in ballots himself – and very frequently too. In fact, Finchem has voted by mail in all but one election since the 2004 general election until this year’s August primary.

While Finchem’s “evidence” against mail-in voting comes from baseless stories from his neighbors, it’s not surprising that Finchem and his friends also vote by mail. They’re among the almost 90% of Arizonans who voted by mail in 2020, including over 80% who vote by mail regularly and are part of Arizona’s Permanent Early Voting List – a list that Finchem himself was on for nearly 15 years until this past April.

If Finchem gets his way, millions of Arizonans relying on vote-by-mail will be left singing, “Please, Mr. Postman, don’t pass me by, you see the tears in my eyes–please, Mr. Postman, look and see–is there a ballot in your bag for me?” That’s why we’re dedicating “Please Mr. Postman” by The Marvelettes to Mark Finchem.
