Jared Golden, candidate for Maine’s 2nd Congressional District, released a new ad today highlighting his commitment to overturning Citizens United and rejecting secret money spending on his behalf. The Maine primaries will be held June 12.
Voiceover:
“Jared Golden rejects dark money and will fight to repeal Citizens United because
Washington should work for us, not special interests.”
A staunch advocate for transparency and accountability, Golden qualified as a clean elections candidate when he first ran for the Maine State Legislature. During his time in the legislature, Golden served on the committee that handles Maine’s election laws, and repeatedly defended the state’s clean election system to curb the influence of unlimited and undisclosed special interest money in the state. Golden is also highlighting his commitment to reform by disavowing support from all secret donors, such as dark money groups, and rejecting corporate PAC money in his campaign.
End Citizens United endorsed Golden in May, citing his work championing reform bills at the state level, and his dedication to bringing that fight to Congress. In 2015, ECU supported the Maine Clean Elections Initiative.
