End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller released the following statement after Donald Trump was indicted for breaking anti-corruption laws by illegally using hush money payments to hide information from voters:
“A grand jury of everyday Americans found that Donald Trump should stand trial. No one is above the law, and he should be held accountable.
“While the legal process plays out, MAGA Republicans should stop trying to cover up for him and stop stoking political violence. The last thing we need is a repeat of January 6.
“These extremists are repeating violent rhetoric and even using the power of their public offices to interfere, threaten, or tamper with the investigation. MAGA Republicans – including Kevin McCarthy, who has set a dangerous tone – should declare they are with the American people, demanding he and his co-conspirators stand trial, and stop stoking violence.”
