This week, Will Rollins released his first ads contrasting his work to keep Americans safe while exposing Congressman Ken Calvert’s long history of corruption.
“Corrupt Calvert has spent his time in office padding his pockets and enriching his real estate business through taxpayer dollars—earning himself the title as one of the most corrupt members in Congress,” said End Citizens United Communications Director Jonas Edwards-Jenks. “As Corrupt Calvert continues to put his own interests ahead of the people, Will Rollins refuses to take any corporate PAC donations because he is beholden only to Riverside County voters. Californians are ready to elect someone who will actually stand up for them in Congress and they know that person is Will Rollins.”
A sample of Ken Calvert’s corruption:
- Calvert used his power to direct funding to benefit his properties. Calvert used his office to steer money for a transit center which would benefit a slew of his investment properties, and funded a freeway interchange near another of his investments, causing it to skyrocket in value.
- Calvert’s campaign practices and earmarks have been investigated multiple times by the FBI.
- Calvert voted to overturn an election, and hoped charges were dropped in the attack that killed three police officers.
- Calvert has taken more than $4 million from corporate PACs, while lining their pockets with hundreds of billions in tax breaks over the decades.
- Calvert has taken nearly $500,000 from fossil fuel interests, while opposing any significant action to mitigate climate change.
- Calvert’s taken tens of thousands from health care and pharmaceutical PACs, while voting to repeal the Affordable Care Act, strip health care from millions, and end protections for those with preexisting conditions.
