Biden: The most fundamental right in America is the right to vote – and to have it counted. And it’s under assault.

Mar 01, 2022

In President Biden’s State of the Union address, he called out the anti-voter laws that are restricting the freedom to vote and silencing the voice of voters–and the dark money that is flooding our elections. To counter this, he called on the Senate to pass the Freedom to Vote Act, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act, and the DISCLOSE Act, which together would end dark money in our politics and ensure every American can make their voice heard in our elections.

“This attack on our freedom to vote has gone on for too long and we need the Senate to pass the Freedom to Vote Act, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Act, and the DISCLOSE Act,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund President Tiffany Muller. “With anti-voter laws already blocking access to the ballot box in states like Texas, the Senate must do whatever it takes to pass these critical bills into law.”

Full quote from President Biden:

The most fundamental right in America is the right to vote – and to have it counted. And it’s under assault.

In state after state, new laws have been passed, not only to suppress the vote, but to subvert entire elections.

We cannot let this happen.

Tonight. I call on the Senate to: Pass the Freedom to Vote Act. Pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act. And while you’re at it, pass the Disclose Act so Americans can know who is funding our elections.
