Despite the renewed focus on corporate America’s influence over politics following the deadly assault on the United States Capitol Building–incited in part by eight Republican Senators–top corporations in the pharmaceutical, healthcare, and health insurance industries are hoping their contributions to the Senate seditionists go unnoticed.
The eight Republican Senators include: Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL), Sen. Rick Scott (R-FL), Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS), Sen. John Kennedy (R-LA), Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-MS), Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO), Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY).
“There’s a conspiracy of silence among these pharmaceutical and healthcare corporations about their role in funding members of Congress who voted to overturn the election results. They’re hoping the events of January 6 will blow over and things will return to business as usual.
“They need to decide whether supporting seditionists and traitors is more important than the very foundation of our democracy. The only way for these corporations to prove that they support democracy is to demand a refund of their contributions to these eight senators. Silence is not an option,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller.
While some corporations have cut off or asked for refunds from members of Congress who attempted to overturn the election results, and some have engaged in a PR stunt by “pausing” all contributions, many top pharmaceutical and healthcare corporations have yet to take any action.
