Uihlein was the top contributor to Roy Moore’s super PAC, even after Moore was accused of child predation
Restoration PAC, a super PAC almost entirely backed by billionaire Dick Uihlein, launched a multi-market partisan attack ad today against ECU-endorsed incumbent Senator Gary Peters (D-MI). Uihlein was a top contributor to Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore’s super PAC even in the wake of child predation accusations. Dick Uihlein is once again trying to buy political influence by pouring millions into electing John James.
“Senator Peters’ record as a tireless fighter for Michiganders speaks for itself,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “Dick Uihlein is an out-of-touch billionaire who was the top contributor to Roy Moore’s super PAC even after Moore was accused of child predation. Now, Uihlein’s trying to buy another Senate seat for his hand-picked candidate. This is an orchestrated effort to distort the facts. Senator Peters is on the side of Michiganders and always will be.”
Dick Uihlein is one of the most prominent donors to outside special interest groups and dark money groups in the Republican Party. Since the 2010 Citizens United Supreme Court decision, Uihlein has poured $45 million into super PACs. Uihlein was the top contributor to Roy Moore’s super PAC, including donating to the PAC a week after allegations were made against Moore for being a child predator. Dick Uihlein is also the main contributor to Americas PAC, which has a history of running offensive and racist radio ads and contributing to a white nationalist group.
ECU is dedicated to getting big money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington so government works for all Americans. The reform group has four million members nationwide, including 102,000 in Michigan, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
