After decades in Washington, Roy Blunt is too cozy with lobbyists and absent on reforms to give everyday Missourians a voice in our democracy

End Citizens United Executive Director Tiffany Muller released the following statement in reaction to Senator Roy Blunt’s scheduled speech to Maverick PAC, a Republican hybrid Super PAC supporting candidates such as himself.

“Just one day after another secret money outside group began spending another million dollars to prop up his failing campaign, Senator Blunt has shown he’s willing to give billionaires and corporate special interests even more influence over our elections and government.  As chairman of the Senate Rules Committee, Blunt has failed to hold even one hearing on any reform to our campaign finance system.  His lack of action in the Senate combined with his embrace of Super PACs sends a clear message that everyday Missourians can’t count on him to fight for their interests. After decades in Washington, Roy Blunt has become too cozy with lobbyists and too comfortable with a system that is rigged for his billionaire allies at the expense of middle class families.”

End Citizens United PAC was established in March 2015 to counter the disastrous effects of Citizens United and reform our campaign finance system. To date, more than 1.5 million grassroots members from every state and territory have taken action to support End Citizens United.
