Call to action comes a day after House introduction of sweeping election reform bill, H.R.1, the For the People Act
In a statement released earlier today, GOP Senator Tim Scott (R-SC) urged the new Congress sworn in this past Sunday to make election reform its “first legislative action.”
“It is imperative…elections be free, fair, and reliable,” Senator Scott said. “That’s why I believe the first legislative action the 117th Congress should undertake is the debate and passage of an election security and voter protection package.”
Luckily for Scott, his urgent call for election reform comes one day after the House of Representatives introduced a sweeping measure to do precisely that: H.R. 1, the For the People Act, would expand access to the ballot box and strengthen the security and integrity of our elections.
