Brian Kemp’s Blatant Pay-to-Play Corruption Continues to Benefit His Wealthy Donors

Apr 28, 2022

Brian Kemp’s rich and powerful donors are reaping the full benefits of their thousands of dollars of investment. Two recent reports in Georgia revealed how wealthy donors who gave thousands of dollars to Kemp’s re-election campaign were given a selective, competitive state contract and appointed to a powerful state board.

In one instance, the wealthy CEO of a medical marijuana company gave $50,000 to Governor Kemp’s re-election campaign. Soon after, Kemp’s allies chose the CEO’s company to be one of only six companies in Georgia allowed to manufacture and sell medical marijuana in the state.

Another report found that weeks before Governor Kemp appointed Tom Bradbury and Tim Evans to the powerful state Board of Regents, the two men and their families gave over $300,000 towards Kemp’s re-election.

“Governor Kemp has made it clear that there is one way to do business with Georgia: Be a wealthy and powerful elite who’s given thousands of dollars to Kemp’s re-election. Georgia voters are sick and tired of this type of blatant, pay-to-play corruption from self-serving politicians like Brian Kemp, which is exactly why they’ll vote him out of office this November,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote spokesperson Tina Olechowski.
