This is the result of a coordinated $1.1 billion, billionaire-backed, dark money effort to capture the courts and take away reproductive freedom.
Now, Republican Senate candidates like Mark Brnovich, Jim Lamon, and Blake Masters are running to enact draconian restrictions that would criminalize doctors for providing safe medical services, punish people for having abortions in their home states, including banning it even in cases of rape, incest, and if the life of the person is in danger. Mark Brnovich has repeatedly asked the Court to overturn Roeand responded to the Court’s draft decision saying “we will get to work in AZ and across the country” to ban abortion. Blake Masters has said that abortion is “genocide happening in America” and has called for the federal government to ban abortion, and Jim Lamon called overturning Roe “a victory.”
The stakes of the 2022 elections could not be higher. Voters in Arizona have a clear choice between extremists in Brnovich, Lamon, and Masters, who want the government to make healthcare decisions for people in Arizona, and Senator Mark Kelly, who will protect reproductive health care and ensure that every person in Arizona has the freedom to make their own medical decisions.
