This is the result of a coordinated $1.1 billion, billionaire-backed, dark money effort to capture the courts and take away reproductive freedom.
Now, Republican Senate candidates like Ted Budd and Pat McCrory are running to enact draconian restrictions that would criminalize doctors for providing safe medical services, punish people for having abortions in their home states, including banning it even in cases of rape, incest, and if the life of the person is in danger. Ted Budd supports a full abortion ban even in cases of rape, incest, and where the mother’s life could be at risk, and Pat McCrory has said he views Roe v. Wade as constitutional overreach.
The stakes of the 2022 elections could not be higher. Voters in North Carolina have a clear choice between extremists in Budd and McCrory, who want the government to make healthcare decisions for people in North Carolina, and Justice Cheri Beasley, who will protect reproductive health care and ensure that every person in North Carolina has the freedom to make their own medical decisions.
