First quarter fundraising numbers of 2020 are in and it was another successful quarter for reformers despite the coronavirus outbreak. In Q1, FEC filings show that candidates rejecting corporate PAC money in battleground districts outraised candidates who accept corporate PAC contributions by an average of $137,500. This marks the fifth consecutive quarter where DCCC Frontline members who refuse corporate PAC contributions outraised Frontline members who accept them. For the 2020 cycle overall, no corporate PAC Frontline members outraised members who take corporate PAC money by an average of $477,500. These numbers prove once again that refusing to take corporate PAC money energizes grassroots support and does not serve as a barrier to having the resources to win in battleground districts.

“These reformers continue to knock it out of the park and prove that rejecting corporate PAC money doesn’t inhibit their ability to successfully fundraise,” said End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller. “These members continue to galvanize small donors and are building grassroots movements to win in battleground districts. They’ve led the fight to unrig our broken system in Washington by passing the For the People Act, the most sweeping anti-corruption and government ethics bill since Watergate. Grassroots supporters are responding to and energized by their accountable, transparent leadership.”
