Did Congressman Rodney Davis Hire Mike Gula to Collect His Corporate PAC Checks?

May 26, 2020

During a recent interview on “Capitol Connection” with Mark Maxwell, Congressman Rodney Davis was asked about his ties to Mike Gula, Davis’ disgraced former political fundraising consultant who left politics to profit off of the pandemic. Gula is currently under investigation by the Department of Justice for promising states PPE and not delivering.

“He did the job I asked him to do when he was working with me…” – Congressman Davis

Davis, who has taken over $3.3 million from corporate PACs over his career–including $680,000 in the 2020 cycle alone–has been one of the fiercest proponents of the Big Money system that greases Washington’s gears.

Gula, a longtime Big Money fundraiser, has served as a liaison between corporate lobbyists and campaigns. Gula summarized his job in a 2005 Washington Post article“Gula said the major attraction of a fundraiser at a game is the opportunity for lobbyists to spend three hours with a member of Congress, and to do that effectively requires holding the event in a suite or skybox. If the congressman is in the middle of a row of seats, as is the case at Nationals games, then only those sitting next to him can talk to him, Gula said.”

With the DOJ looking into Mike Gula’s business practices, as well as his descriptions of trading face time with clients for donations, Congressman Davis owes his constituents a full accounting of what he paid Gula to do.
