Washington Republicans have enabled Trump’s corruption and must be held accountable
End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement after The New York Times released a bombshell report exposing the rampant corruption that has riddled Donald Trump’s presidency, which has led to enriching himself and his wealthy donors:
“This is the culture of corruption that people hate about Washington. It’s why no one trusts government and there’s so little faith in our elected leaders. President Trump embodies this corruption. Despite Trump’s empty promises to “drain the swamp,” his Administration is the swamp and Washington is more corrupt than ever in our history. And Donald Trump has enriched himself and his big donors, and corporate interests along the way.
“This pay-to-play culture reaffirms that Donald Trump is the most corrupt president in our country’s history. Republicans, particularly Mitch McConnell and the GOP-controlled Senate, have enabled him and bear responsibility for propagating and protecting this culture of corruption. The American people are fed up with this behavior, and that is exactly why Republicans will pay the price in November.”
