End Citizens United (ECU) // Let America Vote (LAV) today endorsed Senators Sherrod Brown (OH), Amy Klobuchar (MN), Jon Tester (MT), and Jacky Rosen (NV) for reelection. This is the group’s first endorsement of incumbents for the 2024 cycle.
“The path to holding onto the Senate and electing a majority that will pass reforms to protect and strengthen our democracy runs through these four races,” said ECU // LAV President Tiffany Muller. “We’re jumping into these races early to help ensure they get the support and resources they need to win reelection. They’ve been tremendous allies in the Senate, fighting to protect the freedom to vote and root out corruption in Washington. We’re proud to endorse them and we look forward to helping them win.”
“Special interests should not have a louder voice than Ohio workers and families because they can funnel millions into our elections,” said Senator Brown. “I look forward to working with ECU and LAV to strengthen our democracy and return power to workers by overturning Citizens United, getting dark money out of our elections, expanding voting rights, and cracking down on corruption in Washington.”
“Americans know there is way too much money in our elections. At a time when threats to our democracy are clearer than ever, it is vitally important that people — not special interests — are able to make their voices heard. I’m honored to have the support of End Citizens United and Let America Vote and look forward to continuing to work to increase transparency in political spending and make sure the democratic process works for all Americans,” said Klobuchar.
“The best way to deliver positive change for hardworking Nevadans is ensuring we have a democracy that is healthy, transparent, and strong. The disastrous Citizens United decision has let billionaires and special interests drown out the voices of everyday Nevadans, which is why I’ve been fighting to reform this broken system and restore power back to the voters. It’s an honor to have End Citizens United and Let America Vote’s support as we work to fix our democracy and protect voting rights,” said Rosen.
“Montanans know too well the negative impacts of unlimited dark money spending in our campaigns. Massive corporations and millionaires are buying elections, drowning out the voice of working Montanans, and changing our state for the worse,” said Tester. “We will not stop fighting to end our broken system that only favors the wealthy special interests. I’m honored to be endorsed by End Citizens United and Let America Vote, an organization that has been invaluable in working to combat the corrosive effects that Citizens United is having on our democracy.”
ECU // LAV is dedicated to combating the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: the corrosive impact of Big Money and attempts to block access to the ballot box. Since its founding in 2015, the group has had over 1 million donors and raised $200 million, with an average donation of just $14. The group has more than four million members nationwide.
