End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller released the following statement applauding Senate Judiciary Chair Dick Durbin and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse announcing a vote to authorize issuing subpoenas to Harlan Crow, Leonard Leo, and Robin Arkley II as it relates to the Committee’s Supreme Court ethics investigation:
“We applaud Chair Durbin and Senator Whitehouse for their strong commitment to a thorough and necessary investigation into Supreme Court corruption. It’s Congress’ constitutional duty to conduct oversight and hold other branches of government accountable—including the Supreme Court. As rampant corruption and ethics scandals plague Justices Thomas and Alito, it’s clear that the Supreme Court is wholly unable to police itself. The American people are waking up to the fact that these justices are putting their billionaire benefactors’ interests ahead of their rights and will hold their enablers in Congress accountable.”
Yesterday, ECU // LAV President Tiffany Muller joined Stand Up America and partner organizations in calling on the Senate to take action to hold the Supreme Court accountable, including having hearings into Justice Thomas and Alito’s corruption and bringing the Supreme Court Ethics, Recusal, & Transparency (SCERT) Act to the floor for a vote.
