Yesterday, End Citizens United // Let America Vote (ECU // LAV) Action Fund joined the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights and 59 other groups urging Senate leadership to pass key reforms to the Electoral Count Act (ECA) before the end of the year.
In a letter to Senate Majority Leader Schumer and Senate Minority Leader McConnell, the groups explained that reforming the ECA will not only help prevent another January 6 insurrection, but it will help protect the will of the people against the threats to our democracy that have emerged nationwide. However, reforming the ECA is only the first building block in protecting our democracy. The letter calls on the Senate to pass other important measures to protect the voice and vote of every American.
“Incoming House Republican leadership all voted to overturn the 2020 election and their allies across the country continue working to undermine and sabotage the voting process,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund President Tiffany Muller.“Congress must act to pass this critical legislation before the year is over.”
