End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on Congressman Jared Golden’s win in the race for Maine’s 2nd Congressional District:
“Congratulations to Congressman Golden on his re-election. Congressman Golden continues to defy all odds because he has earned the trust of Maine voters, regardless of political affiliation. He is one of the few members of Congress who continues to prove that a winning campaign does not have to be beholden to corporate special interests. Today’s victory is a critical one in the movement to root out corruption in Washington and make government more accountable to the people.”
ECU endorsed Congressman Golden in 2021 because of his commitment to rooting out corruption, protecting the freedom to vote, putting an end to partisan gerrymandering, and staying accountable to the people he represents. In addition to his tireless support of the Freedom to Vote Act, his leadership as an anti-corruption and voting rights champion earned him an ‘A’ on ECU’s 2022 Anti-Corruption and Voting Rights Scorecard. This October, ECU President Tiffany Muller rallied with Golden to fire up voters in Maine. ECU also spent $400,000 on a TV ad campaign to boost Golden’s campaign. In total, ECU had an impact of over $468,000 in support of Congressman Golden’s re-election.
