“It was a privilege to be at the White House today to honor the new recipients of the Presidential Citizens Medal, including Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, who we were so thrilled to help re-elect last November.
“Secretary Benson carried through certifying the 2020 election and protected Michigan voters, in spite of an angry mob showing up to her house and threatening her and her family. She publicly and forcefully fought back against election lies, and this past election, defeated one of the most extreme election deniers running for secretary of state.
“Like Secretary Benson, all of today’s recipients showed bravery and resilience in the face of threats to our democracy. They stood strong to ensure the will of the people was upheld. We thank President Biden for honoring their commitment to our democracy.”
