ECU // LAV Denounces North Carolina Supreme Court Decision to Greenlight Gerrymandering
End Citizens United (ECU) // Let America Vote (LAV) President Tiffany Muller issued the following statement in response to the North Carolina Supreme Court’s decision to legalize partisan gerrymandering:
“The extremist Republican majority on the North Carolina Supreme Court has put partisanship above fair and equal representation. Today’s decision has officially greenlighted partisan gerrymandering, allowing politicians to pick their voters instead of voters picking their representatives. This decision is aimed at silencing the voice and vote of North Carolinians, and moves us further away from a representative democracy.
“Voters are fed up with their voices being ignored and their rights and freedoms being taken away. ECU // LAV will continue to fight to protect our democracy, hold those attacking it accountable, and elect champions who are working to strengthen it.”
