“Today is yet another win for our democracy as the pursuit continues to hold former President Donald Trump accountable for his heinous crimes. Georgia was ground zero in Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election. With these charges, prosecutors are reminding election deniers that no one can attempt to overrule the will of the American people and get away with it.
“While we applaud the decision to charge former President Trump and his associates, the threats to our democracy persist. The ringleader of this criminal conspiracy is still the frontrunner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, and election deniers are still grasping power in states across the country. Trump must be punished to the fullest extent of the law to send a clear message that election denialism has no place in our democracy.
