Nov 17, 2022

End Citizens United // Let America Vote President Tiffany Muller released the following statement reacting to Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s announcement:

“There’s no doubt that Nancy Pelosi is the most effective Speaker of the House and one of the most consequential leaders in American history. Her barrier-breaking career has been an inspiration to me and millions of women around the country.

“She has a historic and accomplished legacy and has advanced a bold progressive agenda, spending her entire career fighting for the people–so everyone has a voice in the future of the country.

“Her list of legislative accomplishments are long and significant, and the American people will benefit from her work for generations. A fraction of her highlights include the Affordable Care Act, the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, the Inflation Reduction Act, the American Rescue Plan, and the CARES Act.

“Speaker Pelosi has led on creating a more just, fair, and equitable government, and has always fought for the power of the people over the power of special interests. A champion of democracy, she helped pass McCain-Feingold in 2002 and ushered in sweeping ethics reform in 2007.

“She has been a great friend and advocate for End Citizens United and Let America Vote. We are proud and honored to have worked closely with her to pass the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Act in the House of Representatives. We relied on her as she harnessed her power to help push our vision for the country forward.

“She has served our nation with grace and dignity. The incoming Democratic leadership team is fortunate to have the benefit of her guidance and we look forward to her continued service to the people of California.

“With overwhelming gratitude, thank you, Madame Speaker.”
