The SHIELD Act would help protect the integrity of our political system and restore the public’s faith in our elections
End Citizens United Action Fund President Tiffany Muller released the following statement praising the U.S. House Administration Committee for marking up the SHIELD Act (H.R. 4617):
“The SHIELD Act is a vital piece of legislation that will work to protect our elections from foreign influence. Foreign interference in our elections is an attack on our democracy and must be prevented at all costs. The SHIELD Act’s provisions do just that. Requiring political campaigns and committees to report offers of campaign assistance from foreign governments, ensuring online political ads have the same level of transparency as broadcast ads, and closing loopholes that allow foreign nationals and governments to spend money in our elections are common sense reforms that will make our country safer. End Citizens United Action Fund is proud to support the SHIELD Act, and we are grateful to Chairperson Lofgren and the House Administration Committee for pushing this bill forward.”
