End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement congratulating Candace Valenzuela on winning the Democratic primary runoff in TX-24:
“Congratulations to Candace Valenzuela on advancing to the general election. Candace is rejecting corporate PAC money and has put forth a comprehensive plan to end political corruption, including working to pass the For the People Act, overturning Citizens United and restoring the Voting Rights Act. Her historic win tonight shows that her campaign is gaining grassroots momentum and that reform is top of mind for Texas voters. Unlike Beth Van Duyne, who is being bankrolled by corporate special interests, Candace will fight for the interests of Texas families in Washington. We’re proud to stand by Candace, and we look forward to helping her win.”
ECU and LAV endorsed Candace Valenzuela in May 2020 because of her comprehensive reform agenda. ECU launched a $100,000 digital and mail campaign supporting Valenzuela and hosted a virtual campaign event discussing her commitment to rooting out corruption in Washington. The reform group has four million members nationwide, including 6,700 in TX-24, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
