End Citizens United and Let America Vote Congratulate Congressman Chris Pappas on General Election Victory in NH-01

Nov 04, 2020

Pappas rejects corporate PAC money and led the charge to pass the For the People Act, a once-in-a-generation reform bill

End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement congratulating Congressman Chris Pappas on winning the General Election in New Hampshire’s First Congressional District:

“Congratulations to Congressman Chris Pappas on his re-election win tonight. This victory sends a powerful message to Big Money and corporate special interests that their time is up in Washington and proves the success Congressman Pappas and the entire reform-focused freshman class of 2018 achieved by running on democracy and anti-corruption reforms. Congressman Pappas led the way in the fight to get the For the People Act, the most sweeping anti-corruption, ethics and voting rights bill in a generation, through the House, and has fought tooth-and-nail for the Granite State in Washington. Congressman Pappas is ready to get back to work to fight for New Hampshire families, and we’re excited to continue working with him in the fight against Washington corruption.”

ECU and LAV endorsed Chris Pappas for re-election in March 2019 as part of the group’s first round of House incumbent endorsements because of his commitment to unrig the broken system in Washington. ECU raised and donated more than $101,000 in small dollar grassroots contributions from its members this cycle to Pappas’ campaign and hosted a virtual campaign event discussing his commitment to taking on the corruption in Washington and passing reforms to end the influence of Big Money and protect the right to vote. Pappas, who ran on a platform of reform in both 2018 and 2020, rejects corporate PAC money and showed leadership in the passage of the For the People Act (H.R.1). The reform group has four million members nationwide, including over 9,600 in NH01 and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
