Golden rejects corporate PAC money and led the charge to pass the For the People Act, a once-in-a-generation reform bill
End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on Congressman Jared Golden’s win in ME-02:
“Congratulations to Congressman Jared Golden on today’s big win. Jared is one of the few members of Congress who continues to prove that a winning campaign does not have to be beholden to corporate special interests. In just one term, he has already established himself as a champion of meaningful reforms to end the culture of corruption in Washington. We look forward to seeing him build on the incredible work he’s started, and we’ll be standing with him in that fight.”
ECU and LAV endorsed Jared Golden in March 2019 because of his commitment to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington. ECU had a total impact of over $572,900 on this race. That includes both raising and donating $157,000 in small dollar grassroots contributions from its members this cycle to Golden’s campaign, and a $415,800 broadcast and cable TV ad campaign. ECU hosted two virtual campaign events discussing his commitment to taking on the corruption in Washington and passing reforms to end the influence of Big Money and protect the right to vote. The reform group has four million members nationwide, including over 8,000 in ME-02, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
