End Citizens United and Let America Vote Congratulate Congressman Mike Levin on General Election Victory in CA-49

Nov 04, 2020

Levin rejects corporate PAC money and led the charge to pass the For the People Act, a once-in-a-generation reform bill

End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement congratulating Congressman Mike Levin on winning the General Election in California’s 49th Congressional District:

“Congratulations to Congressman Mike Levin. Since he first ran in 2018, Mike promised to work for Californians, not corporate special interests. In Congress, he’s done just that. He promised he wouldn’t take a dime in corporate PAC money, and he kept that promise. Congressman Levin also delivered on his promise to clean up Washington, leading the way in passing critical reforms such as the For the People Act, the most sweeping anti-corruption, ethics, and voting rights bill in a generation. He’s proven he will always put Californians’ interests first, not corporate donors who write the biggest checks. Congressman Levin is ready to get back to work in Washington, and we’re thrilled to continue working with him to build on this progress in his next term.”

ECU and LAV endorsed Mike Levin for re-election in March 2019 as part of the group’s first round of House incumbent endorsements because of his commitment to unrig the broken system in Washington. ECU raised and donated more than $33,200 in small dollar grassroots contributions from its members this cycle to Levin’s campaign and hosted a virtual campaign event discussing his commitment to taking on the corruption in Washington and passing reforms to end the influence of Big Money and protect the right to vote. Levin, who ran on a platform of reform in both 2018 and 2020, rejects corporate PAC money and showed leadership in the passage of the For the People Act (H.R.1). The reform group has four million members nationwide, including 11,400 in CA-49, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
