End Citizens United and Let America Vote Congratulate Congresswoman Cindy Axne on General Election Victory in IA-03

Nov 04, 2020

Axne rejects corporate PAC money and led the charge to pass the For the People Act, a once-in-a-generation reform bill

End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement congratulating Congresswoman Cindy Axne on winning the General Election in Iowa’s Third Congressional District:

“Congratulations to Congresswoman Cindy Axne. As part of the reform-focused freshman class of 2018, Congresswoman Axne helped lead the charge to get the For the People Act, the most sweeping anti-corruption, ethics, and voting rights bill in a generation, passed in the House. In Congress, she’s prioritized ending the pay-to-play politics and corruption that helped create a system that works against hardworking Iowa families, like establishing the End Corruption Caucus and leading on legislation to ban members of Congress from becoming lobbyists. Cindy is a reform champion who doesn’t take corporate PAC money because she’s always been accountable to Iowa families, not corporate special interests. Congresswoman Axne will continue leading the fight for reform in Washington, and we look forward to supporting her as she builds on this progress in her next term.”

ECU and LAV endorsed Cindy Axne for re-election in March 2019 as part of the group’s first round of House incumbent endorsements because of her commitment to unrig the broken system in Washington. ECU raised and donated more than $135,900 in small dollar grassroots contributions from its members this cycle to Axne’s campaign and hosted a virtual campaign event discussing her commitment to taking on the corruption in Washington and passing reforms to end the influence of Big Money and protect the right to vote. Axne, who ran on a platform of reform in both 2018 and 2020, rejects corporate PAC money and showed leadership in the passage of the For the People Act (H.R.1). The reform group has four million members nationwide, including 7,600 in IA-03, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
