End Citizens United and Let America Vote Congratulate John Hickenlooper on General Election Win in Colorado

Nov 04, 2020

Hickenlooper has made anti-corruption, voting rights and ethics reforms a cornerstone of his campaign by rejecting corporate PAC donations

End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on news that John Hickenlooper won the General Election in Colorado’s Senate race:

“Congratulations to John Hickenlooper. Throughout his career, John’s independent perspective has brought people together to get things done for Colorado, and now, he’ll continue that approach in Washington. In his run for Senate, John proved his independence to Coloradans once again by rejecting corporate PAC money and making it clear that he’ll be an advocate for their interests instead of corporate special interests. He also released Protecting Our Democracy, a plan that lays out detailed steps on the need to prioritize the passage of the For the People Act, overturn Citizens United and restore the Voting Rights Act. For the past six years, Coloradans have needed a leader who would stand up to Big Pharma and not worry about health insurance companies gutting protections for people with pre-existing conditions. Senator-elect John Hickenlooper will fight on behalf of Colorado families, and we’re thrilled to work alongside him.”

ECU and LAV endorsed John Hickenlooper in April 2020 because of his commitment to unrig the broken system in Washington. ECU raised and donated over $96,800 in small dollar grassroots contributions from its members this cycle to Hickenlooper’s campaign and hosted a virtual campaign event discussing his commitment to taking on the corruption in Washington and passing reforms to end the influence of Big Money and protect the right to vote. The reform group has four million members nationwide, including over 76,900 in Colorado, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
