End Citizens United and Let America Vote Congratulate Reverend Raphael Warnock on Winning Georgia Runoff Election

Jan 06, 2021

Warnock has put anti-corruption, voting rights and ethics reforms at the forefront of his campaign by rejecting corporate PAC donations

End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement congratulating Reverend Raphael Warnock on winning Georgia’s runoff election:

“Congratulations to Reverend Raphael Warnock. Expanding and protecting Georgians’ right to vote has been the fight of Reverend Warnock’s career, following in the footsteps of his mentor, the late civil rights icon Congressman John Lewis. Reverend Warnock knows that true democracy can only be achieved when every voice is heard and when every vote is counted. He will honor Lewis’ legacy by protecting and expanding Georgians’ right to vote and fighting on their behalf in the Senate. Reverend Warnock ran a reform-focused campaign by prioritizing voting rights and democracy reforms. As a result, he energized grassroots supporters in a battleground state without taking a dime of corporate PAC money. We’re proud to support Senator-elect Warnock and look forward to working with him in the fight for a strengthened democracy.”

ECU and LAV endorsed Raphael Warnock in March 2020 because of his commitment to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington so the government works for all Americans. ECU had a total impact of over $1,738,000 in this race. That includes both raising and donating over $1,138,000 in small dollar grassroots contributions from its members this cycle to Warnock’s campaign, and a $400,000 broadcast, streaming, and cable TV ad campaign, a $75,000 digital campaign, and a $125,000 direct mail campaign. ECU and LAV also hosted four virtual campaign events discussing his commitment to taking on the corruption in Washington and passing reforms to end the influence of Big Money and protect the right to vote. The reform group has four million members nationwide, including 75,000 in Georgia, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
