Mainers understand that the $5.7 million Collins has taken from corporate PACs, which includes Big Pharma and healthcare PACs, is a big reason their prescription drug prices never go down or why they can’t afford healthcare.
“Sara Gideon has the grit and independence to fix the rigged system that Collins helped create. ECU endorsed Sara Gideon in July 2019 because of her commitment to reform and making Washington work for Mainers. Gideon, who rejects donations from corporate PACs, is running a grassroots campaign powered by small-dollar donors. In her first major policy announcement, Sara Gideon unveiled a bold and comprehensive agenda to rein in the influence of special interests and crack down on corruption in Washington. In June 2020, ECU launched a $2 million ad campaign in Maine, its first broadcast television ad of the 2020 cycle. Titled, “Changes,” the ad holds Senator Collins accountable for her vote to slash taxes for corporate special interests and for taking the most corporate PAC money in Maine history.
