End Citizens United and Let America Vote Endorse Christina Finello in PA-01

May 21, 2020

Finello is rejecting corporate PAC and federal lobbyist money

End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) today endorsed Christina Finello in Pennsylvania’s First Congressional District. A fifth-generation Pennsylvanian, Finello has put forth a Restoring Our Democracy plan which includes protecting everyone’s right to vote, overturning Citizens United, and strengthening election security.

“Christina Finello has dedicated her career to improving access to mental health care and human services, and she’ll continue to put the needs of Pennsylvania families first in Congress,” said ECU and LAV President Tiffany Muller. “Christina isn’t taking corporate PAC and federal lobbyist money and she put out a comprehensive plan to root out government corruption. Christina Finello is building a grassroots-powered campaign to clean up Washington, and we’re proud to endorse her.”

“Our current campaign finance system rigs the rules in favor of big companies and mega-donors instead of everyday Pennsylvanians,” said Christina Finello. “We need comprehensive campaign finance reform to rebalance the power in our political system and ensure that our representatives aren’t beholden to corporate special interests. I’m running for Congress because Washington is broken, and we can’t change our politics until we elect leaders who will fight for us. From overturning Citizens United to protecting the right to vote, I will fight every day on behalf of Pennsylvania families. I’m proud to have ECU and LAV’s endorsement.”

bipartisan poll shows that a majority of voters see corruption in the political system as the most serious problem facing the country, especially among independents. The poll also finds that unlimited, undisclosed political contributions and the influence of big money in politics are seen as major problems.

ECU and LAV recently merged to combat the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: Big Money and voter suppression. ECU is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington so that the government works for all Americans. LAV is building a grassroots effort to fight back against voter suppression and protect every American’s right to vote.

ECU and LAV will work to end our rigged political system by electing reform champions, passing meaningful legislative reforms, and elevating these issues in the national conversation. ECU has more than four million members nationwide, including 9,400 in Pennsylvania’s First Congressional District, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14. In 2018, over 1,000 LAV grassroots volunteers knocked on over 340,000 doors, made 112,000 calls, and sent 341,000 texts to help elect 100 pro-democracy leaders.
