End Citizens United and Let America Vote Endorse Three Candidates Committed to Reforming the Broken System in Washington

Oct 08, 2020

U.S. Senator Ed Markey (D-MA), Cori Bush (MO-01), and Jamaal Bowman (NY-16) all reject corporate PAC money

End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) today endorsed candidates in three key U.S. House and Senate races. U.S. Senator Ed Markey (D-MA), Cori Bush (MO-01), and Jamaal Bowman (NY-16) all reject corporate PAC money and support critical reform legislation like the For the People Act, the most sweeping anti-corruption, voting rights and ethics reform legislation since Watergate.

“These progressive champions are standing up to Washington corruption by running grassroots, reform-focused campaigns,” said ECU and LAV President Tiffany Muller. “Senator Ed Markey, Cori Bush, and Jamaal Bowman know that making progress on critical issues impacting the families throughout their states, like access to quality healthcare and lowering the cost of prescription drugs, isn’t possible without comprehensive reform. We’re proud to endorse these reformers, and we look forward to helping them win.”

ECU and LAV merged in January to combat the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: Big Money and voter suppression. ECU is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington so that the government works for all Americans. LAV is building a grassroots effort to fight back against voter suppression and protect every American’s right to vote.

ECU and LAV is an entirely grassroots-funded organization that works to end our rigged political system by electing reform champions, passing meaningful legislative reforms, and elevating these issues in the national conversation. ECU has more than four million members nationwide, including over 103,000 in Massachusetts, 10,000 in MO-01, and 9,000 in NY-16. In 2018, over 1,000 LAV grassroots volunteers knocked on over 340,000 doors, made 112,000 calls, and sent 341,000 texts to help elect 100 pro-democracy leaders.
