All twelve members helped pass the For the People Act (H.R. 1), the most sweeping anti-corruption and reform bill since Watergate, and are protecting the right to vote
End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) today announced its endorsement of twelve House Democrats, who are committed to rooting out corruption and protecting the right to vote. These reformers helped pass the For the People Act (H.R. 1), the most transformative ethics and anti-corruption legislation passed since Watergate.
“These twelve reformers have been leaders in the fight to get Big Money out of politics and protect access to the ballot,” said ECU and LAV President Tiffany Muller. “Whether it’s anti-corruption legislation, voting rights, or government reform, they’ve delivered for their constituents. We’re proud to endorse these twelve leaders, and we look forward to supporting their campaigns so they can continue the incredible work they’ve started.”
The list of endorsed candidates include: Rep. Salud Carbajal (CA-24), Rep. Norma Torres (CA-35), Rep. Charlie Crist (FL-13), Rep. Donna Shalala (FL-27), Rep. Dan Kildee (MI-05), Rep. G.K. Butterfield (NC-01), Rep. Annie Kuster (NH-02), Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18), Rep. Joe Morelle (NY-25), Rep. A. Donald McEachin (VA-04), Rep. Jennifer Wexton (VA-10), Rep. Suzan DelBene (WA-01).
A bipartisan poll shows that a majority of voters see corruption in the political system as the most serious problem facing the country, especially among independents. The poll also finds that unlimited, undisclosed political contributions and the influence of big money in politics are seen as major problems.
ECU and LAV recently merged to combat the two biggest challenges facing our democracy: Big Money and voter suppression. ECU is dedicated to getting Big Money out of politics and fixing the rigged system in Washington so that the government works for all Americans. LAV is building a grassroots effort to fight back against voter suppression and protect every American’s right to vote.
ECU and LAV will work to end our rigged political system by electing reform champions, passing meaningful legislative reforms, and elevating these issues in the national conversation. ECU has more than four million members nationwide and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14. In 2018, over 1,000 LAV grassroots volunteers knocked on over 340,000 doors, made 112,000 calls, and sent 341,000 texts to help elect 100 pro-democracy leaders.
