End Citizens United (ECU) and Let America Vote (LAV) President Tiffany Muller released the following statement on news that Representative Andy Kim (NJ-03) is advancing to the general election:
“Congressman Kim is already changing the way Washington works. His record in Congress has made it abundantly clear that he always puts people over special interests. His decision to refuse money from corporate PACs underscores that commitment. Whether it’s working to lower prescription drug prices, rooting out corruption or protecting the right to vote, Andy has been laser-focused on delivering results for families in the district. While Andy is standing up against Big Money special interests, David Richter will only make Washington corruption worse. We look forward to re-electing Congressman Kim so that he can continue the incredible work he’s started.”
ECU endorsed Kim’s re-election campaign in March 2019 as part of the group’s first round of House incumbent endorsements. ECU has raised and donated more than $92,600 in small dollar grassroots contributions from its members this cycle to Kim’s campaign and hosted two virtual campaign events discussing his commitment to taking on the corruption in Washington and passing reforms to end the influence of Big Money and protect the right to vote. Kim, who ran on a platform of reform in 2018, rejects corporate PAC money and showed leadership in the passage of the For the People Act (H.R.1). The reform group has four million members nationwide, including 8,000 in NJ-03, and is entirely grassroots-funded with an average donation of just $14.
